Battlefield Study Visit
Battlefield Study Visit (BSV) programme is conducted for the World War II Malayan Campaign and Fall of Singapore. It includes a 3-hour lecture and a site visit to various related historical sites in Singapore. This programme is proudly brought to you by SAFTI Military Institute Singapore, with Lionheartlanders Pte Ltd as the officially appointed tour operator.

Tour Synopsis
The programme aims to provide the participants with a better knowledge of British preparations for war in the Far East and the main causes of their defeat. It relates closely to global events at that time and provides a systemic analysis, particularly to the war in Europe, the rise of Japanese militarism and the strategic conditions faced by Britain in the Far East. The lecture includes effective staff-aids, such as slides (with pictures) and videos to enhance learning. The lecturer includes answering both factual and conceptual queries during the Question & Answer session. A site visit programme includes visiting 5 of the sites listed below.

SARIMBUN BEACH LANDING SITE
Sarimbun Beach Landing Site in Singapore holds historical significance as the landing site of Japanese troops during World War II. FORMER FORD FACTORY
Former Ford Factory, where the British surrendered to the Japanese in 1942, is a historical landmark showcasing Singapore's wartime past. LABRADOR BATTERY
Labrador Battery is a historic coastal defense fortification built in the 19th century to protect the island's southern coastline. Visitors can explore the remnants of gun emplacements and underground tunnels while learning about Singapore's military history and its strategic importance in the region. The site offers insights into colonial-era defense strategies and the challenges faced by early settlers in safeguarding the island from potential threats.
FORT SILOSO
Fort Siloso, located on Sentosa Island, is a well-preserved coastal fortification that offers a glimpse into Singapore's military history. Visitors can explore WWII memorabilia, gaining insight into the strategic significance of coastal defense and the challenges faced during the Japanese invasion. REFLECTIONS AT BUKIT CHANDU
Reflections at Bukit Chandu offers a poignant exploration of the Defence of Malaya through immersive exhibits and narrations. Visitors can delve into the pivotal Kent Ridge defense and the harrowing Battle of Pasir Panjang, gaining a deeper understanding of the Alexandra Hospital massacre and the British defense status during World War II. The site also honors the heroic actions of Lieutenant Adnan Saidi, providing insight into his bravery and the sacrifices made by individuals during times of conflict.
CHANGI CHAPEL & MUSEUM
At the Changi Chapel and Museum, visitors gain a profound awareness of the indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment of Prisoners of War (POWs) during the Occupation of Singapore. Through selected accounts of POWs and civilian internees, visitors discover inspirational stories of adversity and resilience. Additionally, the museum provides insights into the activities that took place at Changi and its adjacent areas during the Occupation, offering a comprehensive understanding of this pivotal period in Singapore's history.
KRANJI WAR MEMORIAL
Kranji War Memorial serves as a solemn tribute to soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in duty. Visitors can participate in symbolic ceremonies that honor the fallen and conduct walks around the graves, where significant individuals are highlighted, commemorating their contributions. BUKIT BATOK MEMORIAL

CIVILIAN WAR MEMORIAL
